The Rocca Arch of Ardea

Several streets of Ardea still correspond with very ancient routes.
A striking access to the acropolis, in the whole remained unchanged, was obtained in archaic age directly cutting the tuff block which characterizes the Ardea Rock. The present arch has recently been entitled to the grecian town of Argos, on the occasion of the twinning realized in virtue of the mutual mythical descent from Danae, legendary founder of Ardea.

The urban structure of the Acropolis, made of orthogonal axes, was very regular. The planning was projected and realized beginning from the IVth Century before Christ, in coincidence with the golden period of the town, when its economic development was accompanied with a town planning expansion.
